Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

The position is a hybrid of remote and on-campus work that includes training and timely communication with the Editor in Chief relevant to the high quality publication process with ethics and integrity. The person filling this role will assist that Editor-in-Chief (EIC) of a national journal by assisting in multiple ways:

  • Research and communication to identify and engage Associate Editors (AE's) and Editorial Board Members
  • Communications with AE's and Board members
  • Liaison with the publisher providing important reports and information as required by the EIC
  • Performing initial technical checks of submitted manuscripts
  • Assisting in engaging and communications with potential reviewers
  • Assisting in monitoring the review process and reports on the review process and indicators
  • Performing any necessary editorial and technical proofs in the compilation of final digital volumes
  • Other duties as assigned by the EIC
Desired Qualifications

A bachelor's degree and/or similar or equivalent background and education.

Ability to read and edit basic social science writing

Editorial abilities

Basic computer skills

Report writing skills including gathering and development of relevant indicators in tables, graphs, and reports

Communication skills both in writing and verbally

Ability to interact appropriately in complex interactions with multiple parties including authors, reviewers, AE's, Editorial Board members and publishing staff

Attention to detail and timely project management skills.
