MGI Grain Food Safety/QA Manager in EAST GRAND FORKS, Minnesota

JOB TITLE: Food Safety/QA Manager STATUS: Non-Exempt HOURS: Full-time LOCATION: East Grand Forks, MN REPORTS TO: VP Compliance and Regulatory External Affairs

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for supporting the local facility quality assurance and regulatory compliance needs, working with corporate management teams, The Food Safety/QA Manager works to assist in assuring wholesome, consistent, best quality products are produced by the local facility, leading in implementing, maintaining and monitoring compliance to the Food Safety System. Duties include verification of implementation of System elements, and monitoring System compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Act as on site SQF Practitioner and assist corporate and local management in implementing changes to the facilitys Food Safety System, taking the local Quality Assurance lead in doing so. Assist in developing, revising, reviewing, verifying and maintaining programs, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other food safety system documents. Assist in maintaining documentation and document registers.
  2. Monitor daily personnel and facility compliance to the facilitys Food Safety System. Conduct formal cGMP audits.
  3. Assure training of facility personnel occurs for applicable Food Safety System elements such as cGMPs, Hazard Analysis, Risk Preventive Controls, pre-requisite programs, etc. as required. Identify new training and retraining needs.
  4. Responsible for the collection and analysis of product samples as needed, and the documentation of information obtained from analysis. Product analysis responsibilities can include:
    1. Interact with other company personnel as necessary to obtain samples.
    2. Record and submit all samples shipped outside labs for analyses, as needed or requested. Maintain professional relationships with third party used by the facility.
    3. Assure maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment and general good lab procedures.
    4. Create certificates of analysis (COAs) for analyzed products as required
    5. Appropriately maintain organized, labeled retention samples of all analyzed products
  5. Monitor magnet and metal detection systems
  6. Monitor employee hygiene and provide necessary training.
  7. All other duties assigned by management

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  1. 1-3 years prior experience in a food safety, quality assurance or food processing role with a food manufacturing facility or lab.
  2. Experience working with food safety programs, hazard analysis, preventative controls and cGMPs

MINIMUM REQUIRED JOB SKILLS

  1. Thorough understanding of testing procedures and documentation.
  2. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel
  3. Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties daily
  4. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  5. Knowledge of HACCP, Hazard Analysis and Risk Preventive Controls, and cGMPs. HACCP certification and/or Preventative Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) training preferred.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION

High School or equivalent

Bachelors degree in a scientific field or work-related experience
