Overview:

CommonSpirit Health’s apprenticeship program’s displays that our bold and compassionate mission not only applies to our patients, but to our employees as well. Our programs offer crucially needed uncertified payment while getting hands on with flexible scheduling, all accompanied by a top tier curriculum from local Community Colleges.

The Medical Assistant (MA) Apprenticeship Program is a hands-on, 6-month program starting in late-August, that prepares students to take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant test (CCMA) through the National Health Career Association. The program includes online learning and on-site labs at your local Community College. While going through the MA Program, you will be hired to work with us as an Uncertified Medical Assistant. CommonSpirit will pay your wage as you gain the skills necessary to pass the certification exam, and once certified you will have a seamless transition to a fulltime certified role.

  • Schedule: 12-32 hours a week in MAI role, 2-4 days a week Monday-Friday, while going to school 1 day which to be successful accounts for 10 hours a week.

  • Location: Primary Care and Specialty Care units that report up to Mercy Regional Medical Center.

  • Durango/Pueblo - Specific locations disucussed at time of interviews

  • Educational Partner: Pueblo Community College, or Arapahoe Community College, Virtual Campus

Qualifications:

Medical Assistant Apprentice Requirements :

  • Demonstrated customer service and leadership skills; through high school organizational involvement and or previous employment.

  • Demonstrated basic office and computer skills.

  • Demonstrated basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, and E-Mail.

  • Attention to detail

  • HS Diploma/GED, required

  • BLS, Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association is required within 90 days of employment

  • Ability to enroll in Pueblo Community College - Durango Campus, Pueblo Community College - Pueblo Campus, Arapahoe Community College, or Front Range Community College, required

Pay Range:

Pay Structure : The pay for this position is $18.00/hour with an incremental increase to $18.50 after 3 months and a final pay of $21.25 upon certification.
