St. Louis County Bridge Worker in Duluth, Minnesota

General laborer work as well as operation of heavy construction equipment in the construction and maintenance of County highway bridges. An employee in this class performs intermittently strenuous physical labor and operates heavy construction equipment in the excavation, structural fabrication and assembly of preformed culvert and timber, steel and concrete span bridges in the County highway system. Duties include carpentry, cement and iron work on bridge substructures and decking; welding and torching of steel components; blasting and razing old structures; general repair, painting and upgrading of existing bridges; and in a training status, operation of heavy construction equipment. The work is performed as a members of a bridge crew assigned to a construction or maintenance site under the direction of a Bridge Supervisor.
