       12-month position; 8.0 hours/day$27.15 per hour; rate will increase July 1 POSITION TITLE: Groundskeeper BASIC FUNCTION: Under the guidance and direction of the Manager of Buildings & Grounds and Groundskeeper Foreman, the groundskeeper works as necessary in the preparation and maintenance of all facility grounds in the Dubuque Community School District. This includes snow removal, lawn care, landscaping, fencing, and erection of outdoor structures such as playground equipment. GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:Ability to be on time daily unless using an approved absence.Must hold a valid Class D Iowa Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).Must be Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified or the equivalent with a minimum of two years’ experience or the equivalent.Experience towing a variety of trailers.Ability to use acetylene and electrical welding and fabrication on all Buildings and Grounds equipment for the purpose of maintenance and repair of equipment.Ability to operate all types of landscape and ground construction, maintenance, and repair equipment.Ability to read and follow prints and sketches for the assembly of playground equipment.Ability to operate snowplow and salting equipment.Knowledge of standard practices, methods, and materials used in new ground construction, as well as grounds maintenance and repair work.Knowledge of and skill in use and care of tools, equipment and machines used in new grounds construction, as well as ground maintenance and repair work.Knowledge and experience in mechanical abilities, including welding and small engine repair.General knowledge of grounds procedures and equipment for grounds upkeep. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs tasks as directed in the maintenance and repair of district facilities. Grass cutting, snow plowing, and salting as directed for proper function and availability of the district facilities.Perform tasks as directed in new grounds construction work. Perform tasks as directed to maintain and repair all groundskeeping and snow plowing equipment.Assist in creating parts lists and estimates for landscape and grounds equipment repair / replacement.Assist in producing sketches, plans, specifications, and estimates for new grounds construction work as well as grounds maintenance and repair work.Assist all Buildings and Grounds departments moving equipment and supplies between buildings.Demonstrates a commitment to follow all DCSD multicultural nonsexist policies and practices. Schedule may be adjusted by the Manager and/or Assistant Manager of Buildings and Grounds to meet the district needs. Out of schedule hours will be required when snow plowing operations are needed to keep buildings operating.
