Manager, Food Services

Assists the Sr. Manager, Food Services by Providing leadership and direction to Cooks and all Food Service Workers in order to plan, organize, and manage all aspects of Food Services. Ensures resources are applied to achieve highest standards of service to client specifications. \

Monitors standards and completes relevant documentation. Implements training programs. Ensures compliance with client/company health and safety regulations.

Plans and oversees the execution of special functions. Has hiring authority to employ the correct caliber of Food Services staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must have supervised a staff of 10 or more personnel

  • Responsible for the overall performance of Galley Services operations to include; food handling and preparation, budgeting, subsistence ordering, warehousing, menu planning and facility health and sanitation concerns.

  • Responsible for customer coordination and integration of galley support activities involving the customer, other organizations, and/or company functions including command sponsored events and special meal activities.

  • Ensures Galley operations are accomplished according to client directed serving schedules, in a timely and cost effective manner.

  • Ensures awareness and monitors employee compliance with all applicable functional directives, safety regulations, company directives, policies, and procedures.

  • Responsible for defining training requirements, developing employee skills, and promoting continuous improvement. Supervises and provides operational oversight of personnel performing galley/food service related actions in areas of proper and safe food handling, preparation, serving requirements.

    Requirements:

  • Successful candidate will possess at least ten (10) years’ experience in hospitality management or previous U.S. Military Food Service activities.

  • Undergraduate degree preferred.

  • Demonstrated and recent experience in Navy or Marine Galley/Food Service operations is desired.

  • In depth operational experience with automated food management and ordering systems such as STORES, FSM, AFMIS and other Food Service Management software

  • Previous assignments and work history supporting Navy or Army BOS Galley/Food Service operations in austere or remote environments

  • Process improvement service improvement techniques and methodology desired

  • Excellent customer relations, communication, leadership, and inter-personal skills.

  • Strong working knowledge of NAVMED P-5010, NAVSUP P-486 and OPNAVINST 5100.23, Navy Occupational Safety and Health (NAVOSH) Program Manual.

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of PWS and SOW .

  • Serve Safe Certification (40 hour course certificate).

  • Experience in monthly close out procedures, tracking financial costs, bank deposits and maintaining records of all sales and deposits.

    Additional requirements:

  • Must be fluent in English

  • Must possess passport book (not passport card) with at least 12 months of remaining validity AND with at least 4 blank visa/stamp pages remaining

  • Must possess driver’s license with at least 6 months of remaining validity
