Actalent Fluids Engineer in Detroit, Michigan

Actalent is hiring a hands-on Test Engineer with experience in Powertrain Fluids. You will monitor and provide the status of fluid validation test plans, create/manage internal and external fluid work orders, as well as prepare fluid analysis for teardown reports. This position is onsite in Redford, MI.

Job Responsibilities

  • Test Planning – Monitor and provide the status of fluid validation test plans every month such as but not limited to monthly fluid mileage accumulation.

  • Fluid Requests – Create/manage internal and external fluid work orders and move orders.

  • Prototype Build – Communicate assigned fluid types for prototype builds as outlined on validation plan. Document fluids in prototype build systems (NPP, etc.) as requested.

  • Teardown – Prepare fluid analysis for teardown reports and present results at teardown meetings. Document fluid reports/findings in global teardown report system (GTRS).

  • Dashboards – Create, update and maintain Fluid Dashboards (tableau, etc.).

  • Data Management – Organize data and files for fluids and manage on a daily, weekly basis or as requested.

  • Test Report – Create test reports summarizing the results and observations. Chemistry & Material Labs (Internal & External) – Submit samples, coordinate shipping/receiving of samples, graph results to identify outliers, identify and correct errors.

  • Field Quality – Facilitate R&D field fluid sample programs by monitoring mileage accumulation on sample vehicles, shipping sample kits, receiving fluid samples, submitting samples to the lab, collecting data and summarizing results

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Mechanical / Mechatronics / Electrical / Electronics Engineering

  • Knowledge of diesel engine and after-treatment operation and emissions

  • Strong fundamentals in engineering thermodynamics

  • Ability to communicate and maintain professional and social interaction in a multi-cultural environment
