Pay Range (Hourly)

$27.00-$32.00 Actual pay depends on journeyman level, education, skills test evaluation, experience, performance and certifications.

These non-exempt positions report to HVAC Site Superintendents or Project Managers.

Job Overview

These positions comprise the following job titles:

HVAC Journeyman Employees in these positions are responsible for installing rough and finish HVAC lines and equipment directed by the Site Superintendent or Project Manager. Higher-level apprentices or journeymen may lead work as required to mentor and train lower-level apprentices. Apprentices are to enroll and complete formal apprenticeship education and on-the-job training to achieve the next-level title and associated pay. Those who choose not to enroll in school will not receive the same compensation for the same apprenticeship level as others enrolled in school.

The successful HVAC Journeyman will continually improve their knowledge and skills to provide quality work completed safely within production timelines while incorporating UMC's Vision, Mission, and Core Values.

Responsibilities and Duties (Essential Job Functions)

Arrives at job sites on time as scheduled to participate in pre-planning and safety discussions before work begins. Wears proper Personal Protective Equipment or PPE as required at all times. Ensures all work performed using proper installation procedures and safety practices. Ensures team participation and communication to learn from and teach others. For apprentices, enrolls in and attends education classes regularly; passes courses with at least a C grade; passes the final written exam. When achieved, share education, certification, or licensing information with human resources to ensure company records are up-to-date. Always treats others with respect and dignity and incorporates UMC's Vision, Mission, and Core Values. Performs other duties as directed. All new hires will be subject to a 60-day evaluation probationary period. Qualifications

At least four (4) years of HVAC experience Journeyman must obtain EPA and RMGA certifications Must be experienced with pressure sensors, humidity sensors, rooftop units, make-up air units, variable air volume units, energy recovery vent units, differential pressure devices, variable frequency drives, and air handler units. Strong knowledge of workflow on commercial construction sites is a must Proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to specifications, reporting, and quality requirement Must know the universal communications color codes Must have a high school diploma, or General Equivalency Diploma, or GED. Must support UMC's Vision, Mission, and Core Value statements. Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity and maintain the confidentiality of business information. Possess good organizational, interpersonal, and initiative skills. Effective problem-solving skills. Possess the aptitude to learn and use computer software as needed. Must be able to pass a HVAC skills test. The results of this test helps determine position level and pay. Must be able to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with h nds and arms; talk; hear; sit; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; climb or balance; stand; walk; lift or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds; work overhead and in cramped quarters.
