Who are we looking for:

• We are hiring Data Linguists in our (Netherlands, The Hague) team who can merge the linguistics background with a technical/data-driven approach to problem solving.

• We value your high attention to details and your ability to adapt to dynamic changes. You have excellent language and computer skills, moreover, you are recognized for your proactivity in identifying issues with efficiency and accuracy.

Key job responsibilities

• Building a thorough understanding of labelling conventions and provide support in this sense.

• Localise established guidelines from English into the local language and culture.

• Developing grammars and other forms of natural-language-understsanding applications

• Improving deployed grammars by expanding coverage, accuracy, and eliminating bugs

• Handling unique data analysis requests from a range of data customers

• Contributing to process improvements to reduce handling time and improve data output

• Providing quality expertise to other team members

• Reviewing documentation prior to translation to be sure it is localized and examples are accurate

• Providing localized examples where needed

• Writing and debug grammars

• Reviewing post-translation documentation to confirm accuracy

• Maintaining library of localized documents in source language and translated language

A day in the life

The team works strictly in the office Monday through Friday with an eight hour shift and two breaks half an hour each. We have to work with several customers and types of work each week, so there are frequent changes in our daily work - you won't get bored! We constantly looking for ways to improve our processing capabilities and deliver the best product possible to our customers. Regular team meetings, trainings, and Amazon events throughout the year await you.

Basic Qualifications

• BA or BS degree

• Native level fluency in Dutch, both written and verbal

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

• Excellent organisational, written and verbal communication skills

• Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills and a solution-oriented attitude

• Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and learn in-house user-interface tool

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Linguistics/Computational Linguistics, translation, equivalent practical experience in data mark-up

  • BA/BS degree in Linguistics/Computational Linguistics, or equivalent practical experience in data mark-up

• Independent, proactive, and self-motivated with strong record of delivering work on time

• 1+ year(s) of experience with language data handling or processing (transcription, data labeling/annotation)

• Experience with command line tools
