HS Math Instructor- Job Description for Recruitment

Department: Academic Job Title: HS Math Instructor Location: Delta, CO Reports to: HS Lead Purpose: To provide oversight, instruction, and support of VCA learners in mathematics. Pay Scale: $38,021- 54,068.11 Hours/Week: 20-40 hours (Exempt, Part-time/Full-Time) Working Days/Year: 187 Compensated Non-Working Days/Year: 10 *Paid for 197 days per year with 187 of those being worked days and 10 days compensated, but are not working days. Benefits: Position qualifies for Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) benefits and qualifies for health, dental, life, and long term disability insurance benefits. Position also receives other paid leave (i.e. sick, vacation).

Qualifications: Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and demonstrated subject matter competency required. Subject matter competency includes 24 college credits in content area or successful completion of Praxis in the content area.

Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a background check to work in a school.

Experience: A minimum of one year experience with student instruction and coaching with preference given to candidates who have experience in the individualized learning models.

Special Knowledge: The right candidate will have experience in individualized learning models and programs, as well as expertise in 9-12 mathematics.

Skills/Abilities Required: Classroom instructional and management skills and experience Knowledgeable about state approved math curriculums Skilled at math intervention systems and implementation Experience and expertise in curriculum and planning Coaching skills for parents and learners Data analysis and application for assessment, progress monitoring, and decision making Knowledgeable about Colorado MTSS Mastery based systems thinking

General Description of Duties: Provide instruction in math for grades 9-12 utilizing specialized knowledge and expertise in math curriculums and interventions to facilitate learning through excellent classroom management, as well as, meet federal, state, and organizational requirements and standards.

Major Responsibilities and Duties: Implement a blended learning experience in partnership with parents and VCA staff Plan, deliver, and instruct a dynamic in person classroom and online based on the Colorado Academic Standards and individual learner assessment. Provide a classroom culture conducive to learning, exploration, challenge, success, failure, and growth supporting social emotional intelligence, mathematics, and VCA partnerships Utilize live streaming technology and online platforms provided by VCA Support math based competitions, initiatives, and opportunities. Create a community network of math career connections locally and globally. Build relationships with learners and families and collaborative partners in education. Participate in success coaching with a coach utilizing weekly training, observations, artifacts and debriefs. Interface with community agencies with math based opportunities. Meet with learners and families individually as needed with a minimum of a quarterly meeting. Ongoing communication regarding feedback on assignments, attendance, and engagement through the online platform to support the blended model is expected Keep a grade book and attendance with daily assignments and attendance updated by 8:00 every Monday morning. Utilize data in assessment and decision making for learners and their families Apply knowledge and utilization of state of approved Math curriculum Implement effective math interventions when appropriate Document regularly for student learning, attendance, all all pertinent information to ensure learner success and compliance with federal, state, and organizational standards Ca ry out other organizational requirements as necessary including, but not limited to: Assist with proctoring Learner assessments as assigned Communicate effectively with the staff members, learners, parents, administrators, and other contact persons Participate in employee evaluation and professional development opportunities Attend meetings, trainings, committees as required Meet organizational deadlines and communication protocols Accomplish organizational goals by carrying out other duties relevant to position as assigned by the supervisor
