General Summary:

The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including handling employee inquiries, interviewing candidates, administering benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This role would include handling grievances and associated investigations.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Handle employment-related inquiries from employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

  • Manage benefits administration and leave management in compliance with local and federal employment laws.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

  • Organize employee engagement events like employee outings, Blood Drives, Charity Campaign, in coordination with the HR Specialist and other HR team members.

  • Maintain and upkeeps employee database and personnel files. Provides accurate HR reporting as and when needed in a timely manner.

  • Manage employee onboarding and new hire paperwork.

  • Manage and lead process improvement projects.

  • Provide necessary submissions to maintain the company's Affirmative Action Plans and ensure compliance with EEOC and OFCCP requirements.

  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and employment law.

  • Review, track, and document mandatory HR training compliance.

  • Manages employee recognition program celebrating employee tenure.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.

  • 3 to 5 years of human resource generalist experience preferred.

  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.

  • Multi-state HR law experience preferred.

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Description of physical working environment:

  • Normal office environment with occasional visits to project sites, shop, and fleet areas on need basis.

  • Ability to lift 25-35 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.
