The renowned Institute for Exercise and Environmental Medicine is looking for an experienced Sr. Grants & Research Specialist.

Work hours: Fulltime; Monday-Friday (8:30a – 5p)

  • Sr. Grants & Research Specialist will work under the direction of the Grants and Finance Manager and Administrative Director to perform Grants & Administrative tasks for Faculty as assigned, specifically Pre- and Post-Award Grants Management.

  • High degree of integrated teamwork with an engaged and supportive leadership team that encourages work/life balance.

Here’s What You Need

· High School Diploma

· BS strongly preferred in Business, Public health, Communications, or related degree

· 4 years’ experience in pre-award and post-award grants administration required

· 4 years’ Grants Administration experience in a university setting strongly preferred

· 4 years’ experience in business or public administration with emphasis on customer service in financial or contracting position preferred

· Certified Research Administrator (CRA) Certification strongly preferred

· Professional Sr. Grants & Research Specialist exhibits exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple demands as well as respond to rapidly changing priorities.

· Demonstrated ability to respond to the needs and emotions of people under stress.

· Exceptional Computer Skills. Highly proficient in grants submission software systems, Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), able to easily learn and use web-based software applications for grants administration.

What You Will Do

· Responsible for pre-award grant submissions, subcontract award management, post-award grants maintenance including reporting, faculty administrative support, and supervising specialists to ensure a successful, efficient award management operation.

· Gathers and provides information regarding funding opportunities and application procedures, provides guidance to researchers for proposal development and submission by ensuring adherence to sponsor and UTSW announcements and guidelines.

· Provides grants management support by negotiating and processing awards, interpreting award conditions, obtaining approvals for award modifications, and completing required reports.

· Responsible for creating and submitting finance-approved budgets for applications.

· Candidate should have extraordinary organizational skills and attention to detail, high level of written and oral communication, ability to resolve in-depth inquiries related to grants management and have advanced expertise with grant submission software such as eRA Commons.
