AMERICAN AIRLINES CENTER Maintenance Electrician in DALLAS, Texas

The Journeyman Electrician inspects, repairs, coordinates, installs, modifies and maintains electrical-systems and electrical and mechanical equipment to ensure continuous proper operation at facility during varying shift times, including nights, weekends and Holidays.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs and documents preventive maintenance on all electrical systems, control systems, and vertical transportation control systems to ensure excellent working conditions and compliance to all applicable codes;
  • Maintains all electrical circuitry and equipment in excellent working condition; including but not limited to stationary and moving equipment normally involved in the operation of a large multi-use facility;
  • Assists other trade personnel in making various repairs in the arena;
  • Performs operation of facility equipment and heavy machinery as required for facility operation;
  • Provides emergency repairs to arena equipment during event operations to ensure the success of the event;
  • Coordinates and supervises contractors and vendors performing electrical or electronic work in the facility;
  • Utilizes CMSS system to include interpreting/prioritizing work orders, performing work requested and completing work orders per instruction;
  • Programs and troubleshoots PLC based control systems;
  • Maintains a working knowledge of Security (CCTV) and Fire systems;
  • Maintains and performs working assignments on all voltage systems including 120/208, 277/480 and 5KV;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Qualifications:

  • 5 years minimum of commercial Journeyman experience
  • Must possess a current State of Texas Journeyman Electrical License
  • Must have extensive knowledge of the NEC
  • College Degree in an electrical technology field preferred or High School Diploma/GED or graduated from a certified electrical apprenticeship program
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
  • Working knowledge of PLC is preferred
  • Must have advanced education in the maintenance repair and operation of electrical equipment, mechanical and production based equipment and control systems and typical public assembly of facility equipment
  • Knowledge of electrical safety

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Ability to reach with hands and arms use hands to handle, or feel, stand, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, walk and sit;
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds while twisting and/or turning working at heights, including Catwalk work, and frequent climbing of stairs and ladders
  • Ability to work in small and confined spaces
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to work at heights and in extreme conditions
  • Must be flexible in ability to work all hours/shifts in a 24/7 facility. Work hours are based on Events.
  • Ability to respond during normal business hours, after hours and on weekends via cell phone is required/company phone allowance is provided. Employee selects service plan and is responsible for the repair and/or replacement of the phone
  • Employees with this phone access requirement are not restricted in their movement, location, and activities during off hours when they are not at work
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, during events, the noise level may be loud
  • Position is required to work in exposed wet and/or humid conditions
  • Position is required to work near moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock
  • Employees must be able to work on evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
