Overview

The Packaging Laborer may be assigned to a variety of packing, cleaning or reprocessing positions. The Packaging Laborer may be assigned to any station or location in the Packaging Department. This is an entry level position requiring continuous heavy labor activities. Assignments may include repetitive hand, arm, and body movements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Position performs necessary function required to package, seal and convey sugar packages and various packing station producing product in weights from 1 to 2000 pounds.

  • Station tasks could include check weighing, cutting-in of damage packages, station cleaning, sorting and stacking of station materials and packaging containers, lifting packaged materials weighing 24 to 50 pounds for hand palletizing and check weighing and other tasks as assigned.

  • Operates industrial hand truck to transport palletized materials.

  • Reliable and Predictable In-Person Attendance

  • Able to work overtime on a daily and weekly basis

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Rotating shifts, day, swing, and graveyard, on a bi-weekly basis is required. Overtime is required on a daily and weekly basis as scheduled.

  • Positions require standing and walking 6-8+ hours per day, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, ability to grasp, push, and pull.

  • Position is required to wear PPE, including safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection and hard hat.

  • Packaging stations are noisy (hearing protection is required) and conditions associated with a food packing environment. Packaging Laborer is exposed to refined sugar and sugar dust, cleaning soaps, lubricants and work around moving equipment.

    PAY RATE

  • Hourly Rate: $23.38
