Job Summary:

Are you an experienced climber with a passion for sharing your skills and knowledge with others? Join us as a Certified Climbing Lead Instructor and spend your days in the magnificent Gunnison Valley while inspiring campers aged 7-14 to conquer new heights. Help create unforgettable memories that will ignite a lifelong love for climbing in our campers!

Job Specifications:

  • Outlet:  Camp CB

  • Expected Pay Range: $22.00 - $24.26 / hour

  • Shift & Schedule Availability:  Part Time (climbing shifts are 3 days a week, with additional non-climbing shifts available)

  • Skill Level: Advanced

Job Responsibilities:

  • Instruct campers aged 7-14 on climbing techniques and safety procedures.

  • Assist in training other camp staff members in climbing instruction and safety protocols.

  • Independently establish and maintain a safe climbing area, ensuring all equipment is properly set up and secured.

  • Efficiently set multiple top rope routes, prioritizing safety and variety in difficulty.

  • Adhere to all safety procedures and camp policies on a daily basis, prioritizing the well-being of campers and staff.

  • Stay updated on the latest developments and best practices in climbing instruction and safety.

  • Maintain personal toolkits, first aid packs, and any resort-owned climbing gear in excellent condition.

  • Keep detailed records of climbing activities in the camp climbing log for review and future planning.

  • Other duties as assigned

​​​​​​​ Job Requirements: ​​​​​​​

  • Demonstrated knowledge of technical climbing, verified by completion of an SPI course, climbing school, or a minimum of ten hours of instruction.

  • Minimum age requirement of 20 years old.

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.

  • Previous experience in climbing instruction, demonstrating proficiency in teaching and guiding climbers of various skill levels.

  • Expert-level climbing ability, with the capability to demonstrate advanced techniques and safely navigate challenging routes.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, as necessary for equipment handling and setup.

The expected pay range is $22.00 - $24.26. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
