Job Description: Materials Engineering Apprentice

Summary: Join our team as a Materials Engineering Apprentice and embark on a structured training program designed to develop your skills toward becoming a regionally certified Experienced Technician (e.g., US Department of Labor certification). Under the guidance of experienced Materials Engineering Technicians, you'll learn to operate analytical instruments, conduct physical analyses, and support lab operations while gaining valuable hands-on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn to operate various analytical instruments and equipment for materials testing under the supervision of Materials Engineering Technicians.

  • Assist in routine calibrations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs of instruments and equipment.

  • Support the collection, transportation, and proper documentation of chemical waste disposal activities.

  • Prepare samples, gather, interpret, and document test results, and assist in preparing technical reports and methods documentation.

  • Attend and actively participate in classes and training programs to build skills necessary for certification examinations.

  • Independently perform assigned tasks after adequate training and contribute to team efforts as needed.

  • Contribute to quality procedures, work instructions, improvement projects, and workplace cleanliness initiatives.

  • Participate in self- and team-audits, implement corrective actions, and perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience in a relevant STEM field.

  • Enrollment in or completion of a regionally certified apprenticeship or training program.

  • Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with diverse audiences.

  • Familiarity with data acquisition processes, equipment calibration, and materials characterization techniques is desirable.

Work Details:

  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, with flexible 8-hour shifts starting between 7 am and 8 am.

  • Pay Rate: Up to $18/hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

About the Role: As a Materials Engineering Apprentice, you will play a vital role in supporting materials testing, data analysis, and lab operations.
