The Role

The Senior Manager Labor Relations negotiates and administers collective bargaining agreements that cover approximately 1,000 unionized employees. The Senior Manager Labor Relations develops productive relationships with union counterparts, resolves union related issues in a timely and fair manner, hears and responds to grievances, and assists in the preparation for arbitration. In addition, this role provides day-to-day and innovative, strategic labor relations consultation and support to business leaders of union represented employees, positioning leaders to achieve business objectives, and partners with other HR functional areas to ensure the Labor Relations function delivers high-impact outcomes as a best-in-class function.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Serve as first chair in negotiating collective bargaining agreements with union representatives.

  • Administer, interpret, and optimize collective bargaining agreements to serve the needs of the business.

  • Develop and maintain productive, solution-oriented relationships with union counterparts, fostering a climate of collaboration and trust.

  • Hear and respond to grievances, conduct investigations, and facilitate arbitration as needed.

  • Monitor and analyze labor relations trends and best practices, recommending and implementing improvements.

  • Advise business leadership and HR partners on labor relations issues.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • 8+ years in either a Legal/HR/Labor Relations role in a union environment

  • Bachelors Degree required, JD or Masters Degree preferred

  • First-hand experience in the negotiation and administration of union collective bargaining agreements, grievance handling, and union performance management.

  • Understanding and ability to apply all aspects of the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) as well as employment and human resources related laws, regulations, policies, principles, concepts and practices, including but not limited to Title VII, EEO, ADA and FMLA; and, associated employment laws

  • Data management - good functional capabilities across the Microsoft office suite, specifically TEAMs, SharePoint, Excel, Word, and Power Point

  • Stakeholder management and reporting - ability to incorporate user requirements into processes, recommendations, and on-going programs

  • Travel required to negotiate collective bargaining agreements

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$111480 - $148630 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.

$117340 - $156450 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.

$123210 - $164280 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.

$129080 - $172100 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
