Mitchell County Hospital District Dietary Aide - Mitchell County Nursing and Rehabilitation in Colorado City, Texas

Provides assistance in all food functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with established food policies and procedures.

*Qualifications: *Education: High School graduate or equivalent desired. **Personal Job-Related Skills: Legible handwriting and ability to spell, effective oral and written communication skills.

**Experience:


  1. Prior Work Experience: Prior work experience in Health Care dietary setting preferred.
  2. Technical Training: None required.
  • Physical Requirements: Stands and walks continuously throughout the working day. Reaches, stoops, bends, lifts, carries, and manipulates various food products, dietary supplies and equipment. Ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents. Exposure to temperature and humidity changes as in entering refrigerated storage areas, working ovens, ranges, etc. Must be able to lift and or carry 50 to 75 pounds.

Duties, Responsibilities, and Skills:

  • Assist in serving meals as necessary and on timely basis.
  • Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
  • Set up meal trays, food carts, dining room, etc., as instructed.
  • Assist cook in preparing meals.
  • Assist in checking diet trays before distribution.
  • Clean work tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.
  • Obtain food supplies for next meal.
  • Deliver food carts, trays, etc., to designated areas.
  • Return clean utensils to proper storage areas.
  • Remove food trays from carts, dining rooms, etc., and take to dish-washing area.
  • Carry soiled utensils, etc., to wash area.
  • Assist in inventorying and storing in-coming food, supplies, etc., as necessary.
  1. Safety and Sanitation

Prepare food, etc., in accordance with sanitary regulations as well as Mitchell County Hospital District/department established policies and procedures.

Follow safety regulations and precautions at all times.

Follow established Infection Control Precautions policies and procedures all times.

Ensure that the department is maintained in a clean and safe manner by assuring necessary equipment and supplies are maintained.
