PREFORMED LINE PRODUCTS COMPANY External Financial Reporting Analyst in Cleveland, Ohio

The External Financial Reporting Analyst will be located in our Corporate office and will be responsible for performing various accounting and reporting actions including assisting with preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and established PLP policies, preparation of all SEC filings, performing technical accounting research and drafting of accounting policies.   A successful External Financial Reporting Analyst combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of US GAAP, SEC regulations and SOX 404.

 Essential Functions:

  • Assist with the preparation of all SEC filings (e.g., Forms 10-Q, 10-K, Proxy Statement, etc.) and ensuring all filings are consistent with applicable regulations.
  • Accumulate financial data needed for financial statement disclosures and assist in drafting of relevant footnotes.
  • Perform goodwill and long-lived asset impairment testing and assessment.
  • Assisting with and accounting for the Company's equity compensation programs, including Long-Term Incentive Plan and Stock Options and related SEC filings. 
  • Responsible for the Company's lease portfolio ensuring all leases are accounted for under ASC 842 and IT system is maintained appropriately.
  • Perform Earnings Per Share calculations each quarter for inclusion into consolidated financial statements.  
  • Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards updates and guidance impacting the Company/industry along with researching US GAAP compliance issues and drafting related position papers and global accounting policies.
  • Collaborates with PLP global subsidiaries to ensure they are knowledgeable regarding current and new PLP accounting policies and internal control requirements.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of financial accounting close and assist in month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations of various general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with ESG-related accounting including carbon emissions calculations and related disclosures.
  • Key contact in supporting both external and internal audits. 
  • Provide necessary ad-hoc financial reporting, ensuring it is provided in a timely manner and contain accurate information.
  • Assist with implementation of new financial reporting software, as applicable.
  • Performs other job-related duties as requested by the PLP finance or executive team.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA) in Accounting and 2-4 years of public accounting or SEC Reporting.
  • CPA/CMA a plus, but not required
  • Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge and understanding of SEC filing requirements.
  • Solid analytical skills.
  • ERP, financial reporting and SEC reporting systems experience
  • Previous knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) as well as PowerBI
  • IFS, OneStream and SEC filing software (e.g., Active Disclosure/Workiva) a plus.
