MetroHealth Apprentice Building Engineperson - Facilities Engineering; 80 Hrs; Evenings in CLEVELAND, Ohio

Location: METROHEALTH MEDICAL CENTER

Biweekly Hours: 80.00

Shift: 2:30 pm - 10:30 pm

Founded in 1837, Cuyahoga County’s safety-net health system operates four hospitals, four emergency departments and more than 20 health centers.

Summary:

Under the direction of management and tutelage of the Maintenance Building Engine person, operates, inspects, and performs preventative maintenance of significant HVAC/hospital equipment and repairs malfunctions if possible. Operates and performs routine maintenance of all C.U.P., Powerhouse, and significant HVAC equipment. Monitors various hospital equipment from the control center for the MHS system. Responds to and report any building emergencies. Serves in an apprentice capacity.

Qualifications:

Required: HS Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. Successful completion of 1,000 hours of on-the-job training, AND completion of formal classroom instruction during off-duty hours (i.e. classes held during evenings and/or weekends) through an accredited school. Possess a minimum of a 3rd Class Stationary Engineer’s License for the State of Ohio. Possess a current, valid Driver’s License. Ability to read and utilize blue prints. Solid problem-solving skills, and able to use sound judgment. Good interpersonal skills. Basic personal computer skills. Basic math skills. Ability to follow directions. Willing and able to adjust from the standard work schedule as needed for operational coverage, including days that are not normally worked, and at locations not normally assigned.

Preferred: Formal instruction in math and science. Prior relevant education and/or work experience within the last 5 years. Prior Healthcare industry experience.

Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Ability to climb intermittently during the day. Ability to push/pull 70-150 pounds. Ability to lift 10-40 pounds. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Requires some exposure to chemicals and cleaning products. Position involves exposure to extreme temperatures and uncontrolled environments, including working outdoors on windy/rainy/icy days
