City of Cleveland Public Works Street Laborer in Cleveland, Mississippi

This position is for a Public Works / Street Laborer with a company in Cleveland, MS.

Duties and Responsibilities: This position is responsible for assisting with the daily maintenance of all Public Works infrastructure such as street repairs, sidewalk repairs, storm drainage, vegetation control, and litter control.[]{#bookmark4} Perform asphalt street maintenance including pot hole repairs and crack sealing. Perform concrete street and sidewalk maintenance including repairs and installations. Perform storm drainage culvert repairs, catch basin repairs, catch basin maintenance and ditch maintenance. Perform vegetation control such as grass and weed cutting and chemical mixing and spraying. Perform litter and debris removal in assigned areas. Required to respond to emergency call out and capability of working during all weather conditions. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and City government goals. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of both. Experience operating zero-turn mowers and other landscaping equipment is preferred, but not required. Must possess a valid Mississippi driver's license with five (5) years of driver's record shall reflect no charges that would adversely affect insurability under the city carrier's policy. Must live within six (6) miles of the city limits of Cleveland. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Technical Skills: Controlling operations of equipment or systems. Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly. Familiarity with operating radio communication equipment and systems. Ability to mix and apply chemicals according to specifications. Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools. Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed. Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
