Job Overview As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (COM) has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine's faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day. In the United States, Hoxworth Blood Center (HBC) is the oldest operational blood center and the only regional blood center owned and operated by a university. Notably, HBC remains the only provider of GTP cell therapy products in the Cincinnati region. HBC is seeking a Stem Cell Transplant/Cellular Therapies Medical Director and Processing Facility Director. This is an open rank, open track, faculty position but is expected to be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. HBC and the UC-CoM offer many opportunities for collaborative clinical and basic research, as well as an active clinical trials program in stem cell transplantation and immunotherapies, supporting four different stem cell transplantation programs in Ohio. The position reports to the Chief Transplant Services Officer of HBC. The HBC Academic Unit of the UC-CoM is expanding an existing research program, aiming to excel in basic, translational, and clinical investigation of the cellular, molecular, and biochemical aspects of blood physiology, transfusion medicine, gene therapy, and immunotherapies. Candidates with expertise in transfusion medicine, hematology, hematopoietic biology and therapy, immunology and/or immunotherapies would be encouraged to use this opportunity to build a translational/clinical research program. HBC is located within the Academic Health Center campus and has established connections with world-class research departments that support a highly collaborative biomedical research environment and a special partnership relationship with Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation (CCRF) and the Innovation Hub of the University of Cincinnati. HBC, the UC-CoM, and CCRF offer access to a wide variety of shared facilities, including an animal facility, flow cytometry and high-resolution microscopy cores, GMP-compliant research spaces, and access to the HBC enterprise blood donor resources.
