Position Summary The Cost Accountant applies principles of cost accounting to conduct studies that provide detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems. Plans studies and collects data to determine costs of business activity, such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor. Analyzes data obtained and records results. Primary Responsibilities (Essential Duties)

  • Maintains SOPs and ensures continuous efficiency improvements in accordance with SOX
  • Manages cycle count program
  • Ensures accuracy of the physical inventory investigating and explaining book to physical adjustments
  • Analyzes inventory trends and develops reports which highlight and communicate significant changes
  • Develops and maintains performance metrics for material costs and establishes material and labor standards
  • Analyzes standard cost variances in material, labor, and manufacturing overhead
  • Analyzes data discrepancies and implements changes when needed to improve processes
  • Calculates E&O reserve for multiple locations
  • Performs standard cost rolls and provides analysis of inventory impact
  • Assists with BOMs and routing adjustments
  • Reviews inventory and other general ledger accounts
  • Prepares journal entries
  • Prepares account reconciliations
  • Performs monthly closing activities
  • Assists in preparation of month-end reporting package
  • Assists in Labor and Overhead absorption reporting
  • Provides information requested by external and internal audit teams
