Kanaan Communications, LLC Technician Engineering Field in Charlottesville, Virginia

Overview and Essential Functions

Looking for an opportunity to make a difference? Then you may have found your next career move. RJE Telecom, LLC is seeking an experienced Outside Plant (OSP) Engineer for the Charlottesville, VA area to join our team and help connect America. The OSP Engineer is responsible for the design, pricing and drafting of both copper and fiber facilities. This involves all aspects of OSP Engineering, including pole replacement, customer and road relocations, new service order build outs, Ethernet, FTTx, etc. This position requires both field and home office work. Candidate must live in or be willing to travel to the Charlottesville, VA and the surrounding areas.

What you'll do...

  • Be responsible for work order packet creation which includes field notes, drafting in NDS and creating construction prints

  • Work with municipalities to acquire permits, ROW, etc.

  • Develop plans for new plant construction and/or upgrading existing construction plant

  • Monitor the project(s) during early and late stages of design and construction

  • Ensure the most cost-effective solution is being utilized

  • Monitor and control project expenditures

  • Be the face of the customer and have positive interactions with internal and external customers

Qualifications

What you'll need to successfully fill this role...

  • Brightspeed/Lumen/CenturyLink experience is a plus

  • NDS, WFMT, MARTENS, GLM, ARMOR, TIRKS experience is a plus

  • 1-2 years design experience in the telecom industry with a high focus on fiber technology

  • Working knowledge of CAD applications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft and G suite platforms

  • Be self-motivated and energetic

  • Outside plant knowledge (fiber and copper build, FTTx, pole line construction)

  • A technical background

  • Able to read and interpret DOT plans, be able to identify any conflicts with the existing facilities and find resolution in the most cost-effective way

  • Willing to travel within the customers territory

This position requires both field and home office work. Must live in or be willing to travel to the Charlottesville, VA and the sounding areas.
