Custom Truck One Source DESIGN ENGINEER in Casa Grande, Arizona

SUMMARY

  • Design mechanical structures and systems for truck mounted equipment that meet the applicable standards and to perform the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ownership of design and analysis of mechanical structures and components

  • Deep understanding of Bill of Material (BOM) structures

  • Develop new products using 3D solid modeling software (SolidWorks)

  • Create detail drawings of 3D models (SolidWorks)

  • Work with procurement team to order prototype parts and manage creation of prototypes

  • Create test procedures and work with testing dept to implement functional, structural, and stability testing

  • Make modifications to new designs based on results of testing

  • Evaluate machine weight and balance for road worthiness and crane stability

  • Create sales support drawings

  • Analyze product failures, develop repairs and redesign accordingly

  • Assist technical publications in creation of manuals (parts books, service manuals, operator manuals)

  • ECR review and recommend approval/rejection

  • ECO creation and give recommendations on implementation

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years’ experience in an engineering capacity.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology

  • Proficient in engineering design software – 3D and 2D (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Structural Design – Welded steel structures.

  • Understanding and use of MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, xetc)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two (2) years of engineering experience in manufacturing environmentor,

  • Two (2) years of engineering experience in automotive design related field or,

  • Two (2) years of engineering experience in vocational truck assembly.

  • Two (2) years ISO certification experience

  • Ability to identify complex build challenges and implement solutions quickly and correctly.

  • Ability to weld.

  • Ability to understand 12V electrical systems.

  • Ability to understand hydraulic plumbing systems.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents; ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Must also possess the ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization.
