Position Charter: SHIPPING AND RECEIVING SPECIALIST

Reports to: Traffic Supervisor II

Direct Reports: (N/A)

The Shipping and Receiving Specialist is a member of the Warehouse Team that supports logistics and warehouse operations. This position is responsible for performing receiving, warehouse movements, product picking, packing, marking, handling and coordinating transportation and distribution activities for AMUSA products. The execution of the Shipping and Receiving Specialist's daily activities will result in timely and accurate customer product shipments and vendor receipts.

Specific responsibilities include:

General Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload trucks with forklift and overhead crane.
  • Keep the shop traffic area clean and organized
  • Coordinate intercompany shipments
  • Arrange transportation from vendors as required
  • Identify and communicate incoming orders requiring inspection

Receiving:

 

  • Verify all incoming material against packing list
  • Process receipts in SAP
  • Properly tag material
  • Determine where items are to be staged/stored
  • Print drawings and inspection paperwork for required material inspections
  • Amend PO with incorrect quantities
  • Scan and save all packing lists
  • File all packing lists in sales folders

Shipping

 

  • Keep track of inbound material
  • Work with production control and assembly foreman to determine shipping schedule
  • Oversee packing and process as needed
  • Determine and arrange best mode of transportation based off shipping terms on sales order.
  • Assemble trucks based on packing details
  • Coordinate with carriers for transportation of equipment
  • Work with customers to arrange delivery
  • Work with accounting on export shipments to verify documents are completed correctly
  • Process shipping documents in SAP
  • Label packages for shipment
  • Process and record all shipments (SAP & Spreadsheets)

Knife Warehouse Duties:

 

  • Moving of knives between Callery Plant and Callery offsite warehouse
  • Marking of knives with electric pencil
  • Designing and building wooden knife boxes
  • Building of boxes for hydraulic nuts
  • Repair of vendor wooden knife boxes damaged in transit
  • Removal of vendor tags/markings from vendor knife boxes
  • Stoning of knife edges
  • Operation of wire brush to remove scale from bolt holes

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2+ years of work-related experience
  • A positive attitude and an ability to work with a sense of urgency to satisfy customer expectations
  • Computer experience.
  • Medical examiners certificate for commercial driving a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to learn and become proficient with computer systems.
  • Ability to learn and become proficient with ERP systems such as SAP
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and execute multiple assignments with attention to detail on each
  • Ability to work as part of a team to maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of shipping
  • Understanding of purchasing and inventory procedures
  • Understanding the capabilities of AMUSA. facilities, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Understanding of materials used and manufacturing methods
