    Are you ready to lead the charge in ensuring operational excellence? We're seeking a seasoned Director of Maintenance to spearhead our maintenance strategy and drive efficiency to new heights. As the Director of Maintenance, you’ll oversee and provide direction for all mobile equipment operations and to the manager fleet services.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance Planning & Repair

  • Establish efficient maintenance processes to minimize unexpected repairs and associated costs

  • Maintain industry benchmarks for equipment maintenance, developing plans to address any shortfalls

  • Ensure regular preventive maintenance (PM) according to manufacturers’ guidelines

  • Coordinate major equipment repairs to optimize cost and productivity.

  • Maximize warranty coverage for repairs

  • Monitor equipment capacity planning to ensure high availability

  • Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Analyze fleet requirements and maintenance budgets

  • Prepare and update annual operating plans for maintenance costs

  • Adjust plans quarterly based on changes in demand and costs

  • Evaluate equipment life cycle costs to maximize value and productivity

  • Asset Inventory & management

  • Analyze fleet purchase decisions and production operations

  • Supervise inventory levels and maintenance of parts

  • Implement efficiencies to improve ROI

  • Minimize unplanned repair costs and downtime

  • Report damage and improper use, their costs and effects on risk management and production

  • Minimizes excessive repair costs (overtime labor, rush shipment of parts, etc.) that result from unplanned breakdowns

  • Vendor Management & Supply Purchasing

  • Maintain vendor relationships and ensure competitive bidding

  • Manage bulk purchases of fuels and lubricants

  • Review and recommend changes to vendors annually

  • Recordkeeping & Reporting

  • Utilize software systems for accurate cost tracking

  • Review cost reports and recommend asset decisions

  • Ensure compliance with records management protocols

  • Employee/Team Training & Development

  • Assess and develop employee skills effectively

  • Arrange ongoing training for management and staff

  • Conduct equipment training to ensure safe and proper operation

  • Promote safety and teamwork within the department

  • Miscellaneous

  • Participate in selecting new equipment

  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas

  • Manage equipment movements safely and compliantly

    Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in English for reading, analyzing, and interpreting scientific, technical, financial, and legal documents, as well as for effective written and verbal communication to top management, boards of directors, business community members, and public groups

  • Strong mathematical skills including probability, statistical inference, and basic geometry and trigonometry, with the ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations to practical situations

  • Analytical skills to define problems, collect and interpret data, and draw valid conclusions from various technical instructions and variables

  • Proficiency in personal computer skills including email management, record keeping, database activities, word processing, spreadsheet manipulation, graphics, etc.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, delegate assignments, and manage multiple projects simultaneously

    Education and/or Experience:

  • Associates degree (A.A.) from two-year College or university and ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of related experience required. Bachelor’s degree (B.A or B.S) with ten (10+) years of related experience preferred.

  • Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Current North Carolina Driver’s License required

  • Ability to obtain First Aid Certification

  • Fleet Management certification preferred. Large fleet management experience and previous ready-mixed concrete experience highly preferred.
