Job Description:

Prepares and maintains sterile field and instruments for surgical & procedural cases under the supervision of the circulating RN and/or charge RN. Counts according to policy in conjunction with an RN. Promotes patient flow in both the clinical areas to provide care appropriate to the patient's age. Perform tasks and responsibilities within the framework of medical information gathering, health teaching, health counseling and provision of supportive care under the direction of a registered professional nurse or licensed physician. Adheres to current Kaleida Health policies and standards of practice.

Minimum or Preferred Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required. Cert Surgical Technologist required upon hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire. Completion of Nationally Accredited Surgical Technology Program or completion of a Military Surgical Technology Program required upon hire, New Graduates have 1 year from the date of their graduation to obtain the certification. Maintain national CST certification, granted by the NBSTSA, which require 60 hours of approved CE every four years. Complete 15 hours of continuing education (CE) each year. To be grandfathered as a surgical technologist in New York, a surgical technologist must provide evidence to his or her employer that he or she was employed as a surgical technologist in a surgical facility for a period of one year during the four years immediately prior to January 1, 2015. Existing Surgical Technologists as of 10/27/2020 will have until 6/21/2021 to obtain BLS.

Only applicants who already have the competencies to fill the position and who can fill the position without training will be considered.
