Fedcap Community Service Specialist in Bronx, New York

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Community Service Supervisor, the Community Service Specialist is responsible for managing a caseload of participants participating in the Community Service program or who are enrolled in education or vocational training programs.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop new non-profit Community Service sites and assignments appropriate for WeCARE participants.

  • Educate and train designated on-site supervisors about oversight of WeCARE participant attendance and job duties.

  • Match participants with Community Service assignments based on the results of their biopsychosocial assessment, Individual Vocational Assessment and Plan (IVAP), and special accommodation needs.

  • Supervise Community Service participant timekeeping and metro card distribution activities.

  • Identify and assist with mitigating barriers to Community Service participation, including, but not necessarily limited to, physical and/or mental health barriers, housing, childcare, and domestic violence issues.

  • Mediate conflicts between Community Service site supervisors and Community Service participants, as necessary.

  • Document Community Service referrals and follow-up activities in Fedcap and HRA management information systems, including, but not limited to, FedcapCARES and NYCWAY.

  • Conduct regular site visits to Community Service sites to ensure contractual compliance of Community Service partnerships and that all necessary reasonable accommodations are in place for WeCARE participants.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, such as psychology, vocational rehabilitation, or occupational rehabilitation from an accredited institution perferred.

  • Two (2) years of experience working with employment programs for individuals with barriers to employment. OR a combination of related education and experience.
