Position Summary:

Reporting to the Executive Director of Advancement Services, the Assistant

Director of Advancement Services will be a key stakeholder in all aspects

of the contribution and data processing work of the Advancement Services

team in Fordham’s Office of Development and University Relations

( DAUR ).

In collaboration with the Executive Director and two Advancement

Services Administrators, the Assistant Director will ensure the smooth

operation of day-to-day activities, including gift processing, data intake, and

record maintenance. They will incorporate best practices for fundraising,

data security, and financial processing in the unit’s operations. They will

help supervise the work of a team of exempt and union employees and

assist in strategically coordinating available resources to best leverage both

talent and tools in the efficient completion of the unit’s work.

The Assistant Director will also support the Executive Director in projects

and strategic initiatives, including but not limited to: helping to develop,

document, and support operational policies and procedures; training staff

both on and outside of the Advancement Services team; maintaining and

implementing system configurations and integrations; engaging in data

analysis; providing project management; and other initiatives as needed.

Extensive experience in CRM and using technology to create greater

efficiency, enhance workflows and productivity, and creatively resolve data

challenges is vital to this role.

Essential Functions:

Supervises and reinforces activities related to gift accounting and data management to meet DAUR business needs, targeting continuous improvement, a responsive customer service orientation, increased efficiencies, improved systems integration, and innovative use of technology.

Assists in the ongoing development and implementation of data quality standards and internal financial controls following industry best practices.

Documents, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and workflows for all aspects of Advancement Services work.

Partners with DAUR unit heads and the Executive Director of Advancement Services to assess data collection strategies and suggest changes and/or new initiatives to support DAUR’s ongoing work.

Reviews and validates gift and biographical information in an MS-Dynamics-based CRM to support DAUR fundraising and engagement efforts.

Maintains an understanding of University, IRS , and CASE policies, regulations, and standards pertaining to gift acceptance, processing, and receipting; guides gift and data processing staff and fundraisers as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, business, communications, or related field

Minimum of three years of experience in advancement services in a higher education or nonprofit environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in/with Ellucian CRM Advance or MS Dynamics, Banner Advancement, Anthology Encompass, and/or data warehouses

Demonstrated experience in leadership of a mixed team of technical and operational data services professionals; experience in the management of exempt and non-exempt staff positions, working effectively to promote and grow the team professionally

Demonstrated experience in project management and implementing process improvements

Experience in basic SQL query writing

Minimum Salary: $80,000

Maximum Salary: $90,000
