Job Description:Patient Safety Monitoring Tech (PSM) is responsible to fulfill PSM duties. A PSM is a clinical partner for the remote monitoring of patients who are at a high safety risk. PSM duties include, but not limited to, watching and alerting the patient and/or staff in the hospital and/or at home settings when a risk to the patient presents. Scope:

Observes patient behavior and maintains patient safety.

Maintains an uninterrupted line of sight with the patient and will be required to assist the patient in completion of daily personal care.

Reports any and all activity outside of established parameters to the Nurse Manager, Professional Registered Nurse, or delegated Licensed Practical Nurse.

Obtain report from the assigned nurse or from the current sitter. Remain with the patient until relieved for breaks, meals and shift change.

Accompany patient to other departments when patient is scheduled for tests/treatments.

Notify the patients assigned nurse of any change in patients mental status or condition immediately. Notify the nurse of any safety concerns.

Orientate patient on use of call bell, bed controls, phone, lights and bathroom.

Promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and abides by service behavior standards.

Performs other duties as assigned.

May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.

May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.

Minimum Qualifications: Required

High School diploma or GED is required

Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval

No experience required

Preferred

One year experience in a health care setting is preferred
