CITY OF BRANSON Emergency Management Coordinator in Branson, Missouri

POSITION SUMMARY:The Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) plays a crucial role in our city municipality championing emergency management functions. Overseeing and coordinating all aspects of emergency preparedness, response, and recovery efforts, this role reports to the Fire Chief, who serves as the Emergency Management Director. The EMC will lead daily operations within the Emergency Management Division, acting as a liaison with local, state, and federal agencies, as well as City of Branson departments. The EMC ensures compliance with emergency management preparedness, planning, response, and recovery functions. The position is considered essential during emergencies.

CLOSING DATE: Until Filled

WORK HOURS: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Occasional After Hours Needed

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING

  • A high school diploma or a General Education Diploma is required.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in emergency management, fire administration, public administration, business administration, risk management, political science, or a related field is required.
    • Four (4)years of experience and education may be considered for substitution of educational requirements.
  • Three (3) years of experience in emergency management, disaster response, or related field is required.
  • NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 certification is preferred or must be obtained within six (6) months of start date.
  • Certified cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and automatic external defibrillator is preferred or must be obtained within one (1) year of start date.
  • NIMS instructor preferred or must be obtained within two (2) years of start date.
  • Emergency Management Institute (EMI) Professional Development Series Certification or Missouri Certified Emergency Manager is preferred or must be obtained within two (2) years of start date.
  • Experience in training, facilitation, and public speaking is required.
  • Additional licenses or certifications may be required for this position as determined by management.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING

  • Certification in emergency management is preferred.
  • State Certifications in Fire Instructor I or equivalent is preferred.

MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed during emergencies.
  • Must be willing to be on-call after normal work hours for emergency recall to support activation of the EOC.
  • Must possess a valid, current driver's license and must be insurable under the City of Branson's motor vehicle coverage when operating a vehicle as a part of the position.
  • Must be highly engaged in the department's goals, and be able to work cooperatively with Fire leadership in achieving those goals.
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service to internal or external customers.
  • Must possess a high degree of integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must act safely and follow safety standards while at work.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and drug and alcohol screenings.
