Boston University TEACHER COACH, Wheelock College of Education & Human Development, Institute for Early Childhood Well-Being in BOSTON, Massachusetts

The Boston University Institute for Early Childhood Well-Being is hiring two teaching coaches to join the Nuestros Nios Professional Development program (NNPD). This programs goal is to enhance PreK teachers and assistant teachers preparation to teach young bilingual children. The NNPD is offered over two academic years through four online courses (one per semester) and placed-based, individual coaching for teachers and assistant teachers in the Boston area schools and Head Start centers. The NNPD coach will be responsible for providing coaching to teachers and assistant teachers on the implementation of instructional strategies learned in the courses. They will meet twice a month with each teacher or instructional team (teacher and assistant teacher working in the same classroom). Coaching will consist of 30-45 minutes sessions in which the coach will support teachers in completing the courses practice-based assignments and using the university online management system. The Teaching Coach will meet with Principal Investigator every other week to discuss teachers progress in implementing the strategies discussed in the different courses, and work collaboratively to identify resources and supports based on teachers and their classrooms needs. The coach will complete detailed reports of coaching sessions that will be analyzed for project evaluation and fidelity of implementation purposes.

Required Skills

  • Master's degree required.

  • 5 to 8 years experience in early childhood as a bilingual educator (PreK-K).

  • Experience in coaching or mentor role.

  • Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish-English (proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing).
