Boston Public Schools Citywide Boston Community Hub Schools Coordinator (SY24-25) in Boston, Massachusetts

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Boston Community Hub Schools ACADEMIC/NON-ACADEMIC: Non-Academic Citywide Hub Schools Coordinator: As part of the BTU/BPS hub school collaboration, under the direction of the Executive Director, the Citywide Hub Schools Coordinator will work in partnership with city and district leaders, lead agencies, intermediaries, and other community partners as a strategic collaborator responsible for further defining and developing the Boston Community Hub Schools strategy, and to contribute to the implementation a seamless system of support services and opportunities for students and families. The Citywide Hub Schools Coordinator is a facilitative leader who works to ensure that the strategy is always informed by the expertise and experiences of those most impacted, including students, families, community partners and educators. The Citywide Coordinator will enhance the capacity building of school-based coordinators to engage school staff in embracing and becoming champions of the community school strategy achieving the City of Boston and Boston Public Schools’ education goals. The role is complex and requires a dynamic person who can effectively navigate and interconnect multiple systems to achieve success for youth and families. Responsibilities: Develop and lead professional learning opportunities on and aligned to the Hub Schools strategy especially for teachers, student and family support roles, and other union members. Contribute to the supportive infrastructure for community school transformation with the convening of community leaders, development of strategic partnerships, and presentation of actionable data Develop and advance education advocacy initiatives in partnership with student, family, and community leaders Share and document lessons learned and best practices Work with internal and external collaborators to build knowledge about in support Establish internal and external systems for communicating about activities and services related to the Hub Schools Facilitate large and small-scale community engagement events and training. At the direction of the Executive Director and in collaboration with the Union president or designee, as well as BPS Government Relations, engage with other city agencies to discuss alignment At the direction of the the Executive Director, and in collaboration with the Union President or their designee, represent the the hub school strategy in various public forums as needed and participate in advocacy activities to promote community hub school Identify strategic partnerships aligned to the six practices of the Hub Schools strategy to support implementation and areas in need of support, and establish next steps to support future implementation efforts. Identify and support in the writing of potential grants that support the work Assist the Executive Director in reviewing any relevant Hub Schools budgets, grants, and stipends Provide cross-training and/or best practices to other members within the department Deliver professional development, consultation, training, coaching, and ongoing technical assistance to help school-based Community Hub School Coordinators implement and sustain Hub Schools strategy Support learning of school-based Community Hub School Coordinators about what constitutes effective implementation of the Hub Schools strategy and tracking progress towards goals outlined in the Quality School Plan (Chronic Absenteeism, Instructional priority, Culture and Climate) Organize, participate in, and/or lead regular professional development sessions for staff members at the school sites and at the district level Collect, analyze, interpret, and monitor relevant implementation data to identify successes, develop new strategies and plan for continuous improvement of strategies, policies, practices, and programs Collect, analyze, and monitor trends in student, educator, and school-level data to make data-informed and strategic recommendations Promote data transparency by presenting key data findings with relevant colleagues and collaborators, and facilitating shared responsibility for successes and underachievement with a solution orientation Support the evaluation of the Boston Community Hub School strategy through timely submission of reports for various stakeholders and coordinating data collection Support collective efforts to establish & reinforce overall initiative goals and metrics Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director, in consultation with the BTU President or their designee. Requirements Bachelor’s College degree in education, public administration, social work, or a related field Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred, other languages desired Strong interpersonal skills with a diversely skilled workforce A high degree of cultural awareness and competency in cross-cultural practice with children and families. Experience in collaboration, meeting facilitation, problem solving and team building Ability to manage multiple priorities, be a team player and a self-starter Strong written, verbal communication, organizational skills and analytical Knowledge of Boston Public Schools as well as the operation of community-based organizations and institutions of higher education is an asset Teaching/educator experience in urban public schools Terms (Salary and Benefits): BTU, Assignment Transfer Specialist (ST3) salary schedule. Work Year: The Citywide coordinators will work 8 hours each school day and their work year will be 223 days. The work year shall include the 180 days that students are in school (the "school year”), and 43 days outside of the school year. The additional 43 days shall be scheduled collaboratively between the Coordinator and their supervisor.
