CITY OF BILLINGS EQUIPMENT OPERATOR / MAINTENANCE WORKER in BILLINGS, Montana

The City of Billings is seeking an Equipment Operator / Maintenance Worker for the Street / Traffic Division. Responsible for performing a full range of maintenance duties on city buildings, equipment or grounds and/or operating a variety of equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Checks tires, oil lubricant, water levels, lights and fuel; washes lubricates and adjusts equipment; changes tires. - Maintains shop and storage areas used in performing assigned tasks; maintains cleanliness of work area and tools. - Maintains and constructs streets and alleys, including paving, patching, crack sealing, concrete work, removing obstructions and laying gravel. - Operates a variety of equipment including motor grader, roller, de-ice truck, large front-end loader, backhoe, storm sewer truck, and paint striper dependant upon assignment. - Fabricates, installs and maintains sign and traffic control devices. - Maintains and repairs storm sewers and drains. - Maintains winter streets by plowing, removing snow, sanding, de-icing, and snow blowing. - Cleans city streets and alleys by removing brush, leaves and other debris and by trimming and removing trees. Required Skills/Qualifications for Maintenance Worker: - Two (2) years of progressively responsible construction and maintenance work operating light and medium equipment and trucks. - Possession of a State of Montana Class A Type 2 commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement or must be obtained within ninety (90) days of employment. Required Skills/Qualifications for Equipment Operator/Maintenance Worker - Three (3) years of progressively responsible construction and maintenance work operating light and medium equipment and trucks. - Possession of a State of Montana Class A Type 2 commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement Preferred Skills/Qualifications for Maintenance Worker and Equipment Operator/Maintenance Worker - High school diploma or equivalent. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with a change to four (4) 10-hour days during the summer Salary: Salary at hiring will be dependent upon the applicant's experience.
