BILLINGS SCHOOL DISTRICT 2 AGRICULTURE EDUCATION TEACHER in BILLINGS, Montana

The Billings Career Center, in Billings, Montana is seeking an Agricultural Education Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Starts August 2024. Our program is a two-teacher program with the following classes: Introduction to Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources, Animal Science, Plant Science, Veterinary Science, and Urban Agriculture. The Introduction to Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources, Animal Science, Plant Science, and Veterinary Science courses are yearlong one-hour (50 minutes) courses, and the Urban Agriculture course is a two-hour block course (1 hour 20 minutes), where students can enter at semester. Nearly 1400 different students choose to attend the Career Center for their CTE credit courses, attending from three Billings high schools on either a part-time (1/2 day) or full-time basis. Our program has access to a shared workroom "laboratory" space, and two greenhouses. Average class sizes range between 15-30 students. Students are well-behaved, purpose-driven individuals, and the school administrators are supportive of their teachers and programs. Our program is well funded, through Perkins, State VoEd, District, and Education Foundation grants and monies. There is no summer contract, but availability to attend summer Professional Development opportunities exists. Billings is the largest city in Montana, with almost 200,000 people. The opportunities outside of the classroom are plentiful. Numerous nearby hunting, fishing, skiing, hiking/biking trails, and a proximity (130 miles) to Yellowstone National Park. Other opportunities include multiple cultural, historical, artistic, sports, and theatrical exhibitions throughout the year.
