*Clinical Pharmacist - Outpatient *WRNMMC Bethesda, MD

Position Duties and Responsibilities:**

  • Performs a full range of pharmacist tasks including drug therapy reviews, verification, medication management and compounding as required.
  • Reviews, interprets and accurately dispenses prescribed medications as appropriate for individual patients based on age-specific dosages, allergies, therapeutic duplications or overlaps, medication interactions and other pertinent data.
  • Follows-up with medical providers offices to clarify prescribed medications, dosages, directions for use, refills, interactions and allergies to suggest alternative medications, and answers medical provider questions. Accurately records and documents interventions as a result of provider communication.
  • Ensures accuracy, and quality of all pharmaceutical products prepared or processed by technical staff.
  • Counsels patients and answers their questions regarding usage of medicine, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient information privacy, and generic substitutions.
  • Works with information systems and automated and technical equipment, such as Composite Health Care System (CHCS), PharmASSIST, automated dispensing machines, Internet, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Electronic Clinical References (Micromedex/Lexi-Comp).
  • Maintains inventory control of all pharmaceuticals in the pharmacy, especially scheduled pharmaceuticals, and ensures pharmacy security. Maintains appropriate records and security of all scheduled controlled substances according to applicable regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a pharmacist after graduation; including prescription filling and verification, records and legal compliance, pharmacy operations, pharmacy software and technology systems.
  • Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.
