Amazon Software Development Manager, Connected Vehicles, Last Mile in Bellevue, Washington

Description

To provide new innovations for customers, we are building a globally connected fleet of delivery vehicles. We are combining cutting-edge IoT technologies (sensors, embedded devices, wearables, and robotics), real-time data streams (video, vehicle telematics, location, and presence), together with machine learning models and algorithms – to create solutions that allow us to deliver faster, and with more confidence.

As an SDM, you will lead and grow a multiple development teams software engineering and machine learning science. You will oversee the development of in-vehicle edge compute devices, sensors, cameras, and software products for our WW Fleet. Working in parallel with our operations team, you will own the deployment and installation of these products at scale. You will work closely with our fleet management team and industry OEMs to deliver software and hardware solutions for current vehicles, contribute to the design of solutions for future vehicles, creating enhanced solutions for our drivers without compromising on safety.

Across the Geospatial and Last Mile organization, you will work with peer teams to integrate with their systems and products, providing rich data and edge applications that help improve the mapping and routing experience for all our drivers. You will be a trusted partner for your counterparts in HR, finance, and business development teams, playing a lead role in technical evaluations, operational planning, and other business activities.

You will bring a strong technical background with experience in software development and hardware integration to stand out as a senior technical member of the organization. This role requires autonomy and an ability to deliver results, often within the ambiguity of building a v1 products and services. You will work efficiently to build the right things with limited guidance, raising the bar to create an amazing experience for our customers.

This position is based out of our new Amazon Bellevue campus.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
