Amazon Senior Software Engineer, Grocery Robotics and Automation in Bellevue, Washington

Description

The Grocery Robotics and Automation Systems team is embarking on several projects to build and deploy automation solutions in Grocery Fulfillment spaces. We're looking for a talented and motivated Software Engineer to design and build scalable solutions for fulfillment automation. This is an opportunity to be part of the team that designs, integrates, owns, and scales automation solutions across the Amazon Grocery Fulfillment network. Key job responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:

  • Design and develop software which integrates automation systems with amazon internal systems (A robotics background is not necessary).

  • Prototype and validate ideas or features through simulators, emulators, and with live robotic equipment

  • Create hardened, production-ready systems which can be deployed at Amazon scale

  • Work directly with internal customers and see the impact of your products in the field

  • Serve as a technical lead and mentor to the team of Software engineers to maintain best practices and build innovative solutions

A day in the life

We work with a diverse set of stakeholders to integrate automation solutions with existing Amazon Warehouse Management solutions and build additional standalone resources to support large scale fulfillment operations. There will be opportunities for designing solutions from the ground up and influencing the future of the organization in a meaningful way. As we're a fast moving team, most decisions will need to carefully balance short term success vs. long term impact to deliver value to our customers now without sacrificing long the long term vision.

About the team

You will be working with a team of software engineers based out of Bellevue, Seattle, Boston, New York, and San Francisco. You will also have opportunities to go on-site and see your solutions in action! The team is constantly interacting with other organizations outside of robotics, including external vendors, operations and automation partners.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
