Microsoft’s Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. Our mission is to deliver the world’s computer with an industry-leading supply chain. CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.

Cloud Sourcing, Spares, Security, and Sustainability (CS4) organization within CSCP manages sourcing and supply of IT hardware for the data centers. Well-defined and executed sourcing and supply chain management ensures reliable on-time performance, optimized cost, prevents urgent and unplanned investments, and provides accurate and timely information across the supply base and internally across the infrastructure organization. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide.

We are looking for a Senior Sourcing Manager to help build and create sustainable advantage through supply chain. This Senior Sourcing Manager will have the opportunity to manage a variety of innovative programs like Microsoft Cloud for Sovereignty, support new system integrators for specialty Engineering Group etc. This role will require the ability to program manage across a wide variety of internal teams, lead supplier relations + contracts/pricing negotiations, and drive supply chain design/execution. In addition, they will provide thought leadership and drive strategic initiatives with internal stakeholders and suppliers.

Responsibilities

Sourcing Management

  • Engage with cross functional leadership including product design, quality, business teams to determine sourcing / business requirements

  • Conduct Request For Quotation / Request For Proposal activities and facilitate evaluation across teams to select right supplier

  • Negotiate for advantaged cost and ensure continuity of supply with supplier

  • Manage contracting activities with Legal and ensure contract reflect Microsoft’s cross functional engagements / requirements

  • Onboard supplier to Microsoft tools / system as required

  • Serve as point of escalation to supplier on quality, operational and cost issues

Supplier Performance

  • Conduct business reviews to communicate and track supplier performance vs. targets

  • Ensure supplier compliance with Microsoft requirements (e.g., social responsibility, security)

Supply Chain Design

  • Understand business requirements from cross functional teams

  • Conduct analysis on various options to manage the different part of the supply chain (components flow, manufacturing, fulfilment, return)

  • Provide recommendation on optimal supply chain setup and drive syndication with respective stakeholders

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 6+ years experience (including internships) in Data Science/Analytics, Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain, and/or Operations

  • OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 5+ years experience in Data Science/Analytics, Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain, and/or Operations

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in Procurement and Supply Chain Operations.

  • 3+ years working experience in sourcing and supplier management.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of hardware sourcing and supply chain.

  • Demonstrated track record of supplier management.

  • Proven capabilities in operating in a growing, fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

  • Distinctive problem-solving leadership and analytical thinking capabilities.

  • Skilled in influencing and ability to build lasting relationships across multiple layers in the organization.

  • Leadership skills and an ownership mindset.

  • Excellent communication and synthesizing skills (both written and verbal).

  • Operations consulting experience is a plus.

  • Extensive experience collaborating with and leading cross functional teams.

  • Cloud / high tech supply chain experience is a plus.

Sourcing and Category Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,200 - $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $142,200 - $213,200 per year.
