Universal Health Services Physical Therapist-PRN in AUSTIN, Texas

Responsibilities

Texas NeuroRehab Center is currently accepting applicants for a Physical Therapist-PRN. The Physical Therapist will provide physical therapy (PT) services to patients in an efficient and professional manner. Therapies will be completed in accordance with the patient's developmental, psychological, and physical level of function. Exemplify ethical conduct as described in the facility mission statement and in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) code of ethics.

Texas NeuroRehab Center is a specialized treatment facility located ten minutes from downtown Austin on 67 wooded acres. We have served the Austin community for over 60-years and are proud of our history and tenured leadership team.

Today, Texas NeuroRehab Center provides complex medical and brain injury rehab for ages 13 years and older and neurobehavioral residential treatment services for children and adolescents. The capabilities of the facility as a whole allow for integrated and specialized care for children, adolescents and adults facing difficult challenges.

    Qualifications

    The following are the job requirements for the Physical Therapist position:

    SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: EDUCATION: Requires a thorough knowledge of human anatomy philosophy, and the effect of treatment procedures on body functions and structure. Knowledge of neurodevelopment treatment and motor control and understanding of neurological dysfunction and its effect on motor performance.

    EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy

    LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Current Driver’s License or State issued Id. Current license, or temporary license as an LPT in the State of Texas. Certification in CPR.

    EXPERIENCE: BS or equivalent in physical therapy. Master's degree preferred.

    PHYSICAL/GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to sustain physical activity eight hours a day. Able to remain on feet eight hours per day. Able to physically restrain patients by individual or team restraint per policy. Able to frequently lift, carry, and lower 50 pounds without assistance. Able to push patients in wheelchairs up and down hills and pursue running patients. Able to transfer patients to and from wheelchairs. Able to confront a dangerous and aggressive patient. Able to verbally communicate so as to de-escalate a crisis situation, explain treatment to the patient so as to allow patient to be an active participant, and to protect self and others from aggressive patients or other incidents. Able to visually observe so as to convey verbally or in writing patient behavior. Able to write legibly and grammatically so as to convey patient behavior and information in the patient chart. Able to use hands repetitively. Regular and expected attendance. Hearing and vision sufficient to perform essential job functions. Physically, mentally, emotionally, and legally capable of fulfilling all job components. Able to complete training program.
