ABM Industries Chiller Technician in Austin, Texas

ABM, a leading provider of integrated facility solutions, is looking for a Chiller Technician.

The Chiller Technician specializes in heavy commercial air and water-cooled chiller systems but not limited to maintaining and performing repairs on all assigned HVAC and Refrigeration equipment and controls, chilled water systems, boilers, and various other mechanical, electrical and building systems and complex Chiller type Systems in such manner as to ensure optimal client relations.

Pay: $ 40.00- $ 45.00/hr

401(k) – You become eligible to make personal contributions beginning the first of the month following 30 days of employment. You become eligible for the ABM match beginning the first of the month following six months of employment. ABM matches your pre-tax and/or Roth contributions, dollar for dollar, for the first 3%. For the next 2%, ABM contributes $ 0.50 for each dollar you contribute. Your contributions and match are immediately vested.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to troubleshoot, calibrate and adjust pilots, thermostats and burners, transformers, controls, relays, heaters, elements, switches and controls on electrical systems.

  • Ability to use the tools of the trade (e.g. multimeter, refrigerant gauges, charging charts, hand tools etc.)

  • Required to work 1st responder assignments and work on call duties as assigned

  • Complies with service standards, work instructions and customers' requirements

  • Performs disassembly and reassembly of large commercial equipment to perform troubleshooting and planned maintenance as indicated in the maintenance service agreement.

  • Primarily work on chillers but will service roof top units and standard split systems when necessary.

  • Installs, maintains and repairs ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment

  • Proficiently operates hand tools, power tools, gauges and measuring equipment.

  • Completes service contracts, quoted projects and service calls as directed.

  • Develops long-term relationships with customers and explains work performed to the customer's satisfaction.

  • Communicates and documents work order status.

  • Safely drive company vehicle and follows requirements of company vehicle driving policy and adheres to all company safety requirements.

  • Maintains equipment, tools, and inventory stock on service vehicle.

  • Able to work effectively with app-based software.

  • Takes and logs readings from critical equipment and takes appropriate corrective actions before system outage occurs.

  • Excellent customer service skills with a desire to exceed customers’ expectations.

  • Advanced knowledge of service processes, techniques and codes is required.

Requirements:

  • OEM CERTIFICATIONS ARE A PLUS

  • OEM EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS

  • Possess hands on skills and knowledge to complete required repairs and maintenance on York chillers , cooling towers, pumps, motors, and HVAC systems using industry standard tools and in accordance with all codes, laws, and regulations

  • Water source heat pumps and evaporative condensers

  • Data center environmental equipment

  • Understanding of basic HVAC controls and VFD’s

  • Air handling equipment including VAV systems typically found in larger commercial systems

  • Performing preventative maintenance on hydronic cooling & heating systems

  • Pump and motor alignments

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of Commercial HVAC service experience plus 3 years of Commercial Chiller Technician Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • EPA Universal license

  • Two-year technical degree in related field is preferred.

  • HVAC Technician State Registration

  • Chiller Field Experience, OEM or Factory Training

  • At least 3 years of commercial or industrial HVAC experience

  • Valid Texas driver’s license with a clean record
