Job Summary:

As a Colorectal Surgery Registered Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing direct patient care in the colorectal surgery department. You will work closely with our team of surgeons and healthcare professionals to ensure the highest level of care for our patients. This role requires a strong background in providing post-operative care, administering medications, monitoring patients' conditions, and assisting with surgical procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional nursing care to patients undergoing colorectal surgical procedures

  • Monitor patients' vital signs, assess their conditions, and provide appropriate interventions

  • Assist surgeons during surgical procedures, ensuring proper handling of instruments and equipment

  • Administer medications, including pain management, following established protocols

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans

  • Educate patients and their families on surgical procedures, post-operative care, and potential complications

  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations

  • Continuously update and enhance your knowledge and skills through ongoing professional development

Requirements:

  • ADN and/or BSN

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in VA or Compact State Licensure

  • BLS Certification

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in surgical nursing, preferably in colorectal surgery

  • Proficient in triage, providing post-operative care, managing complications, and administering medications

  • Solid understanding of surgical procedures, techniques, and equipment in the field of colorectal surgery

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with a diverse team

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines
