Development InfoStructure HCD UX/UI Researcher Designer in Arlington, Virginia

Development InfoStructure LLC., (DEVIS) provides exceptional DevSecOps integration in our agile software development and embedded software solutions, combined with comprehensive IT management and consulting services to our federal, state, and local governments. The outcomes of our research and development, products and universe of services will support the international development community, multiple civilian agencies and the nation’s defense and intelligence communities. Our focused research, services and products include complex DevSecOps solutions to support refugee processing across multiple federal agencies, research and development for Signal Intelligence (SIGINT), Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I), Data Analytics, and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) development and sensor capabilities supporting both the aerospace/defense and intelligence communities, as well as complex HHS comprehensive care coding requirements, and integrated management systems for our countries civilian agencies (FAA, FDIC, HOR, etc.).

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Human-Centered Design Specialist with expertise in UX/UI research and design to join our team contingent upon contract award. In this role, you will play a key role in creating intuitive and engaging user experiences across our digital products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct user research, design user interfaces, and ensure our products are aligned with our customers' needs and goals.

Responsibilities

  • User Research: Conduct comprehensive user research through methods such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, and field studies to gain insights into user needs, behaviors, and preferences.

  • Design Strategy: Develop and communicate design strategies that address user needs and business goals. Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define and prioritize design goals.

  • UI/UX Design: Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for web and mobile applications. Ensure designs are user-friendly, accessible, and visually appealing.

  • Interaction Design: Develop intuitive and engaging interactions that enhance user experiences and align with established design patterns and standards.

  • Usability Testing: Plan and conduct usability testing sessions to evaluate design effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Analyze and present findings to the team and stakeholders.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, developers, and other designers to ensure seamless integration of design into the development process. Communicate design concepts and decisions effectively.

  • Design Iteration: Iterate on designs based on feedback and data from user testing, market trends, and industry best practices.

  • Accessibility: Ensure all designs adhere to accessibility standards and guidelines to create inclusive experiences for all users.

  • Design Documentation: Create and maintain design documentation, including style guides, design systems, and specifications for development teams.

  • Stay Current: Keep up with industry trends and emerging technologies in UX/UI design and human-centered design practices.

     

    Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in UX/UI research and design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.

  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, or similar tools.

  • Demonstrated experience designing systems that meet 508 Requirements.

  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.

  • Significant experience working in an agile software development environment.

  • Solid knowledge of user research methods and techniques.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and decisions to diverse audiences.

  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and guidelines.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.

  • Demonstrated experience in Federal or State contracting as a Civic Technologist

  • Demonstrated Knowledge and Experience with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)

  • Familiarity with front-end development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

     

    Clearance Requirements

  • This role requires the hired candidate to go through public clearance.

  • A minimum of 3 years of stay in the U.S. within the last 5 years is a must to be eligible to qualify for public trust clearance sponsorship. 

    Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Centered Design, Interaction Design, User Experience Design, or a related field.
