Vista Outdoor Supply Chain Analyst in Anoka, Minnesota

Job Description

Vista Outdoor (The Kinetic Group) is seeking a Supply Chain Analyst to support sourcing initiatives that drive down the total cost of goods/services while maintaining a continuous flow of supply into our ammunition manufacturing facilities. This role will support the Supply Chain organization by working in collaboration with Category Management, Demand Planning, Operations, Cross-Functional Leadership, and key Suppliers.

This position reports to our Director of Supply Chain and is located at our office in Anoka, Minnesota

As the Supply Chain Analyst, you will have the opportunity to:

Manage category reporting across all supply categories

  • Develop reporting metrics that provide historical views of on time delivery, quality, and pricing

  • Create order forecasting mechanisms for major categories (brass/lead/powder/plastics/packaging)

  • Analyze inventory position and provide forecast to support quarter-end and year-end targets

  • Identify slow moving inventory and create plans with Operations to consume or dispose

  • Support Buying and Planning functions at all manufacturing locations

Analyze cost trends within key supply categories

  • Develop cost comparison tool comparing similar products across key vendors

  • Perform historical price analysis at part number level

  • Identify sourcing strategy within category to optimize cost

Support Contracts/Legal initiatives as needed

  • Provide insight and data to support ongoing negotiations with key suppliers

  • Define and track performance metrics for critical suppliers

  • Gain understanding of long-term supplier partnerships based on negotiations that include a supplier development plan, process flowcharts/improvements, and shared financial investments and incentives

  • Develop key supplier scorecards, measure compliance, report savings and conduct formal business reviews to include lessons learned

Provide analytics to directly support monthly business review with key internal stakeholders

  • Communicate milestones achieved and relevant concerns existing within the supply chain

  • Provide detailed updates on supplier delivery performance, inventory position, and forecast

  • Articulate solutions to short-term production challenges

  • Demonstrate ability to produce root cause / countermeasures analysis to address quality and delivery issues

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Materials Management, Supply Chain Management or related discipline.

  • 1+ years in a Supply Chain environment

  • Working knowledge of spend analytics, strategic sourcing, long-term agreement development and lean/continuous improvement concepts and culture

  • Demonstrated ability to engage, collaborate, motivate and share accountability in matrix environment.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills preferred (particularly Excel)

  • Experience with Power BI

You might have:

  • MBA preferred

  • Prior experience sourcing fabricated metal, packaging, plastics, capital equipment or tooling.

Physical Requirements: Employee will be sitting the majority of the time, with some walking and standing. Minor lifting objects over 10 lbs., carrying, stooping, and kneeling to access books and reports, transport paperwork and materials, and to retrieve files. Some travel and work outdoors. Manual dexterity for extensive computer work and writing. Hearing, speaking, and vision are required.

Mental Requirements: Must communicate effectively in verbal and written formats. Reading comprehension and basic math skills are a requirement. Must be able to analyze complex datasets and develop models within Microsoft Excel. Flexibility to effectively deal with a variety of people and situations and to handle interruptions and multiple tasks simultaneously. Quick thinking and problem solving to readily assimilate information. Ability to maintain tact and highly professional manners. Initiative to effectively complete tasks with little supervision. The ability to identify and appropriately handle confidential information.

Equipment Used: Telephone, calculator, personal computer, printer/copy/fax machine.

Working Environment: Work is done in an office environment, with some time spent in the manufacturing plant. This exposure subjects incumbents to temperature changes, dirt, dust, noise, vibration, moving objects and mechanical parts, machine tool lubricant mists, equipment and explosive hazards. Co-worker support, guidance and reinforcement are readily available.
