Medical Assistant

Primary Location : Outpatient Oncology Clinic - Trinity Health Ann Arbor

Candidates may train at all three locations: Ann Arbor, Canton, Brighton

Hours: 8am-4:30pm (some flexibility for start time)

Part-time, Monday-Friday, 20 hours/week

*This is not a summer only opportunity, qualified candidates must be available to work 8am-4:30pm - 5 scheduled days/ bi-weekly (Monday-Friday)

Under physician direction and supervision, prepares patients for office visit, takes vital signs and records in medical record, obtains patient chief complaint, escorts patient to exam room, and prepares patient for physician visit.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an accredited school or at least 1 year of work experience as an MA or in a similar patient care role.

  • Will consider a student in a medical focused field of study that is able to meet the scheduling needs of the department (SEE ABOVE)

  • Experience: No previous experience required if MA training has been completed. Prior experience in an Oncology clinic preferred.

  • Licensure: BLS annual certificate.

What you will do:

  • Reviews patient medical record to assure that all needed test results, forms and reports are available to physician/provider.

  • Assists physicians/providers with procedures and processes specimens according to established procedures. Performs in-office testing at direction of physician/provider e.g. urinalysis, suture removals, injections, immunizations, etc.

  • Arranges patient hospital admissions and test scheduling.

  • Assures that clinical areas and drug sample areas are maintained according to Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.

  • Maintains exam rooms to ensure supplies are present and that room and equipment is in working order and in clean condition.
