About the Opportunity This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU]. The position is classified as mobile with a reporting location of Akron, OH or Fairmont, WV. The position is part of the Compliance & Procedures (C&P) team within the Transmission Operations Services department. The C&P team is responsible for ensuring Transmission Operations compliance with North America Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards, PJM Manuals and procedures, and other regional regulatory requirements. This team is also responsible for creating, revising, and maintaining technical documents used by Transmission Operations. Responsibilities include: Support and coordinate regulatory audit, self-certification, data-submittals, and spot checks. Interpret regulatory standards and policies to ensure that Transmission Operations business practices align with compliance requirements. Collect evidence and prepare reports to verify and demonstrate compliance to NERC, RF, and PJM policies and requirements. Track and monitor FE Transmission Operations compliance efforts and analyze data to assess effectiveness of the compliance programs and controls. Participate in PJM meetings to identify and understand PJM Transmission Owner/Transmission Operator assigned NERC Standards and their relationship to FirstEnergy procedures, and processes. Participate in PJM, Reliability First (RF), and North American Transmission Forum (NATF) forums to be aware of current and emerging industry compliance issues and communicate information effectively to Transmission Operations. Author and revise operating procedures, reference documents, desk guides, and associated documents using the FirstEnergy Transmission Operations Writer's Guide. Collaborate and partner with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to obtain necessary information and ensure accurate documentation of processes and procedures. Manage document content and maintain a controlled document repository. Demonstrate professional demeanor and excellent customer service skills in collaborating with customers/stakeholders to answer questions and concerns about documents produced and ensure compliance with regulations and policies. Identify internal process enhancements and strive toward increasing efficiency. Demonstrate foresight to recognize innovative solutions and/or other business needs. Identify latent organizational weaknesses and human performance error traps embedded in Standard Operating Procedures. Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Engineering, IT or related field and two (2) years of related experience or Associate degree and four (4) years of related experience. In lieu of degree, six (6) years of related experience is required. Related work experience includes working in a compliance or audit role supporting regulatory requirements. Knowledge of NERC standards and policies for the electric utility industry is preferred. Ability to write clearly, accurately, and concisely to effectively convey ideas in procedures, technical documents, educational material, reports, letters, and memos.
