Job Overview:

The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer applies their conceptual knowledge of instrumentation and controls and with a moderate level of guidance and direction from colleagues and leadership, is responsible for solving a range of straightforward instrumentation and controls problems. They will be responsible for analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures, as well as building knowledge of the company, processes, and customers. The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer understands key business drivers and applies this knowledge to solve problems in straightforward situations through analysis of possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.

Candidate should have minimum 5 years' experience in instrumentation engineering of Oil and Gas projects with reputed engineering companies. Job description is attached.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Perform FEED, Studies, and detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on more complex and demanding engineering tasks

  • Apply knowledge and skills to complete varied assignments

  • Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures

  • Prioritize and organize own work to meet deadlines

  • Focus on completing work within budgets

  • Clearly communicate and explain information in straightforward engineering activities

  • Prepare the development of key project deliverables, including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Cause & Effect Diagrams

  • Vessel Level Sketches

  • Instrument Index, I/O List, Range, Alarm, and Trip Summary (RATS)

  • Instrument Data Sheets

  • Instrument Calculations (i.e., Valves, Flowmeters, etc.)

  • P&ID Development

  • Participate in project reviews, including (but not limited to) the following:

  • P&ID Reviews

  • Development and support of vendor packages, including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Create requisition packages for basic instrumentation

  • Review of supplier documents for basic instrumentation and mechanical packages

  • Site support, including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Provide technical support to Construction personnel for I&C engineering-related inquiries as needed

Reports to:

Project: Lead Engineer

Functional: Supervising Engineer or Engineering Manager

Liaise with: AII design/drafting disciplines, all Engineering disciplines, Fabrication group, and Document Control

Supervises: Trainee Engineers 

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering

  • 3-8 years of experience of I&C engineering experience

  • Accredited engineering degree may be required by specific regions

  • Working knowledge of the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines, including ISA, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ANSI, and API

  • Experience with Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI), InstruCalc, and MS Office Suite including Excel and Word
