Alaska Airlines, Inc. Senior Software Engineer – Data Services Team (multiple positions open) in Seattle, Washington

DUTIES:

Serves in a lead role in the areas of ETL design, data modeling, and ETL development. Facilitates best practice guidelines around all stages of development. Provides technical leadership to serve as point of escalation, review, and approval for key issues, significant projects, and decisions. Works with stakeholders, and analyzes complex business requirements and designs supportable, documented solutions that will meet Business needs and integrate seamlessly with the EDW. Gains team and stakeholder approval for all designs, and effort estimates. Researches and analyzes current systems, subsystems and interfaces to understand the current or new process flow. Documents work via Functional and Tech Specs. Develops unit tests, performance tests, and take into account security requirements. Prepares and participates in design and code reviews. Analyzes processes for gaps and weaknesses, building future state models and creating the roadmaps and migration plans to get there. Coaches and influences team-members on best practices and emerging technologies. Architects, engineers, tests, deploys, and supports highly scalable and maintainable complex data loads. Ensures delivery of high-quality software by writing clean code. Communicates progress and work using the Agile Methodology. Contributes as a full-stack engineer on a scrum delivery team, collaborating with product owners, designers, and other engineers to deliver business value on an iterative basis.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree* in computer science, systems analysis, or closely related field or the foreign degree equivalent; and 5 years of experience in software development, including:

  • 5 years of experience with SQL and PL/SQL
  • 5 years of experience with Oracle
  • 5 years of experience with Data Warehousing, design and relational database build
  • 5 years of experience with Data Modeling
  • 4 years of experience with ODI (Oracle Data Integrator Tool)
  • 2years of experience in the design, implementation, and support of a Kimball method data warehouse on SQL Server or Oracle
  • 2 years of experience with C#
  • 5 years of business and/or technical experience in the areas of Data Integration (ETL), Data Security, and Enterprise Data Warehouse development
  • 2 years of experience in Change Management, Release Management, and Source Code control practices

     

Experience can be gained concurrently. Any suitable combination of education, training or experience is acceptable. *In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, Employer will accept 2 years of software development experience.

 

SALARY: $151,466

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees.
