UW MEDICINE IT SERVICES has an outstanding job opportunity for a SENIOR DESKTOP ENGINEERING ADMINISTRATOR position.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 100% FTE – 40 hours per week

  • Day Shift – UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 07:00 – 16:00 (PST), Monday-Friday POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Performing the role of technical lead on project teams.

  • Guiding production, development, testing, and training environments.

  • Responsible for all functions that pertain to centralized/remote management of 25,000 end points in multiple Active Directory domains automating network management of user data, security, and distributed resources.

  • Providing customer support to End Device Support Specialists (EDSS) and other end users to ensure a highly available, highly secure, highly reliable, easy to use, distributed production computing environment comprised of multiple Active Directory domains.

  • Supporting an environment comprised of a network of distributed hosts, enterprise level servers, departmental servers, and client end user devices.

  • Promoting the implementation of ITS strategy, focusing on standard technologies, and providing the user community (including remote affiliates) with well-supported services and tools consistent with the standards and guidelines within UW Medicine.

  • Providing application access and security activities.

  • Resolving application performance issues.

  • Providing advice, consultation, and support to partners, Systems Managers, Senior Computing Specialists, and operations personnel of varying levels of expertise.

  • Training and mentoring other team members. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Neighborhood Clinics (UWNC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). In addition, UW Medicine shares in the ownership and governance of Children’s University Medical Group and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (a partnership between UW Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research, and Seattle Children’s). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You manage, develop, deploy, and support virtual/physical desktops and applications.

  • You handle enterprise level security patching of all systems supported by the Desktop Engineering Team, testing all patches to validate that application functionality is not impacted before pushing to the Enterprise.

  • You troubleshoot and remediate issues with System Center Configuration Manager, Sophos End Point Security, and Active Directory.

  • You perform various system administration duties (i.e. vulnerability analysis, firewall management, and group policy management).

  • You customize/configure, manage, and utilize enterprise level central management tools such as SCCM.

  • You perform the role of technical lead on projects.

  • You lead small to intermediate scale group projects and prioritize tasks.

  • You actively participate in proof of concepts (POC) execution.

  • You participate in departmental Continuous Quality Improvement projects.

  • You provide mentoring and consulting services for internal and external technical teams. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent education and/or experience.

  • 6+ years technology experience should include:

  • 6+ years of progressively responsible experience with systems design, analysis, installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of workstations, system software, and drivers in support of end user computing devices.

  • 5+ years’ experience with systems administration, troubleshooting, maintenance-related programming, and production support.

  • Extensive experience with SCCM Server administration.

  • Extensive experience with virtual end devices and applications.

  • Advanced understanding of Active Directory architecture.

  • Advanced scripting experience (VBScript and/or ADSI to manage Active Directory).

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Extensive experience in supporting the Microsoft suite of application software.

  • Strong knowledge of local and wide area networks technologies.

  • Extensive experience developing and implementing distributed network file sharing and printing services.

  • Extensive experience working with hardware and software vendors.

  • Extensive experience supporting systems utilizing SQL, Exchange, Windows Terminal Server.

  • Experience with large scale, complex systems.

  • Extensive experience working with teams in the development and support of applications.

  • Extensive communication skills and ability to work with personnel of various levels of technical background. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This is an Information Technology deadline-driven work environment.

  • The individual in this position is expected to work normal daytime hours. The work may be performed in either an office environment or by telecommuting with manager approval, during normal business hours; however, significant off-hours and weekends may be needed to resolve problems and respond to emergencies. This individual is expected to be available for emergencies (business continuity/disaster recovery efforts) on a 24x7 basis as needed.

  • Must coordinate projects without direct supervisory authority.

  • Must work within the constraints of multiple technical environments.

  • The individual in this position must learn many organizational structures and cultures and continually foster collaboration.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
